More Flickr Tests
I think I’ve found a way to moblog with Flickr and WordPress. It’s not ideal but I think it will work and I’m using this post as a test.
First, the problem. Flickr gives users a unique email address with which to upload images to a blog. That’s fine. It works.
But… Not only does it insert the text from the body of the email into the blog, it also inserts it into the description of the the attached image when it posts it to Flickr simultaeneously.
The answer to the problem of duplicate content on your own blog and on Flickr is to login to Flickr using your mobile phone and then alter the description by editing the description field. It’s a bit longwinded but it works.
The bright ones amongst you may think, “Well why not just upload the image direct from the mobile phone to Flickr, with another unique email address they give you, login and use the ‘blog this’ button.” Great idea, except mobile phones can’t cope with the ‘blog this’ button, almost certainly due to some javascript/ajax code functionality. Mobile browsers do lag behind standard browsers in this respect.
But if you follow the process above it should work fine - now to test my theory… If you’re reading this it worked.
